Oh what I have done
My father and I are in the middle of a show truck build and we went and brought this thing home today. I found it locally.
1966 Big Window Factory 4 Speed on the floor Radio delete Premium heater 292ci motor Spotlight It's really solid. It needs both outside rockers and the edge of the floor pan on the drivers side. Hopefully that is all. I might just fix it up a little and sell it but now I am tempted to keep it and 5.3L swap and drive it. I need to figure out a way to break down the VIN I have a nice extra Short Wide Fleetside bed setup and some nice fenders etc for it so I am going to start installing all of that soon.

Re: Oh what I have done
Cool truck, and Congrats on your mom being a cancer survivor. Whenever I see or read a story of a cancer survivor, it gets me wanting to do my charity car show again to raise money for the ACS.

Here is a post from a past forum response on how to read the VIN numbers

I bought one of my trucks off a ranch down in New Braunfels back in 2005. It had the original inline 6 (230). When I first got into it, I had the same thoughts about swapping in a V8 but after just getting it running good and driving it a bit, I loved the inline so much I left it just like it was. You might give that 292 a chance unless you're dead set on a 5.3L. You might find that you like it just as it is. Good luck on your project. Looks like a solid starter.

Looks like a great start. I agree about the 292, they will surprise you and tend to grow on you.
