6 lug Disc brake conversion Q's
I'm looking at getting the 6 lug deluxe disc brake conversion/ front end rebuild kit from Brothers Trucks. First I'd like to know what yall think about that kit. Also, it says it doesn't fit with the stock wheels. Does that mean all 15" wheels? Any knowledge on this would be appreciated.

you will need 71-87 4x4 steel wheels if you plan to run steel wheels.
The original 6-lug steel wheels from 1960-70 won't clear the disc brake caliper. I suggest ECE for disc brake conversions. They been doing this longer than anyone. Check out www.earlyclassic.com

They should work with other 15 inch wheel unless they are the cpp modular drop spindles (modular being the important word) than you will need a bigger wheel or less backspacing.

Re: 6 lug Disc brake conversion Q's
Actually this is their spindle that does not have a cast in factory type caliper mount. They have a threaded location so you can mount different caliper brackets on, so you can run a stock brake package or a big brake kit like 13" or 14" rotors, 6 piston calipers, etc. Most all other brands of spindles only use a factory sized rotor and caliper.
I like them since they don't move the wheels out and if I ever want to upgrade to a big brake package, I don't have to change spindles.

I believe modual means that the spindles dont increase track width of the vehicle. Some spindles make the front tires wider than others, and the CPP keep the exact same width.

Re: 6 lug Disc brake conversion Q's
Looking to bump this thread instead of starting a new one..
Brothers had a sale on this month and their deluxe disc conversion was almost $250 dollars off.. Planned on going with CPP but this was a pretty good deal. So then decided while I was placing a big order and the shipping was expensive, thought Id order the remainder of the 4/6 drop (since I got the drop spindles with the kit). So ordered springs, blocks, notch and shocks for now. I wish ECE was still open as I would have went there... but they aren't. Does anyone have experience with the Brothers brake kit or drop kits? Thanks Edit: just realized this was in 60-66. my bad

If that kit was $800. You can try sourcing the parts yourself and save a little for your gas tank. It this link, I used all 75 chevy truck parts I had laying around. Had to buy the tie rod sleeves from CPP. Just a thought. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...isc+brake+swap
This is a picture of it just after a small rebuild. I have been running this for the last 3 years.

Re: 6 lug Disc brake conversion Q's
Those are actually new spindles I have on the truck. They are just the 75 year model since that is what I used with the stock height spindles I had. I got the spindles at Summit Racing and they are CCP''s.
