What is the original color of your 1972 K5?

Poll to gauge the proportion of the various OEM color options for 1972 K5s. Please select your original color. Options are those listed in dealer literature and description doesn't match the SPID but I've listed the RPOs to help selection. Thanks!

EDIT: You can "vote" only once but have the option to select multiple colors if you have or have had multiple 72 K5s.

Re: What is the original color of your 1972 K5?

It looks like the ppg chart is incorrect, this is 516 orange

Crimson red 514 is listed as med. red on my 72 Jimmy.

Re: What is the original color of your 1972 K5?

Thanks for the votes and the post. Would be nice to compliment the poll with example pics of nice original paint examples for each of the color options. I'd say 516 Orange never looked better - nice pic.

Spanish Gold and Ochre both share the 511 paint code. never heard of Ochre being called Spanish Gold. Anyways, I'm Ochre.

Re: What is the original color of your 1972 K5?

For marketing purposes GM advertised 1972 k5 paint colors with the names as listed above, which doesn't match the name on the SPID. If you wanted to order an ochre blazer for example you'd have checked the "Spanish Gold" box. See the 1972 K5 model selector here on page 12 https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...let-Blazer.pdf . I don't have the 1972 Blazer consumer brochure available to me at the moment but willing to guess that the color options listed are those shown above.

If I knew what each color was called out on the SPID I'd have listed it too but have no idea for some like meadow green.

I'm really surprised how many ochre colored blazers are checking in, I'm a fan of the color but didn't it would have the lead.

I'm surprised at the number of ochre-colored ones, too. I don't like the color much, but I've had two Blazers with that color!

I dont know if its because all the cool black and orange factory colored blazers were favored and trashed years ago, but most 1st Gen K5's I see on the road are Ochre, including mine...

Here is mine, also still in original 1972 paint

Surprised too not more medium (willow) green 504 examples. Curious to see what numbers look like with more responses.

Can someone post their 514 red. It's the color my Jimmy will be but strangely enough it's hard to come by pictures of despite it being in second place.

Here's my 524 72 K5 in mostly original paint. It's had some spot repair. I don't have a great pic of it since I put the trim rings back on.
