Build thread
Ok so technically she's already finished but I've prob got 20 grand in her and that means she's to nice to nice to put in the mud. Didn't think that through before putting 20k in her. So here is the plan. I'm converting her to 2 wheel drive and slamming her. Plan is for 22 inch iroc wheels and a 4/6 drop.

Re: Build thread
Love the way your blazer looks as a 4x4. If it were me I would leave it as is and find a two wheel drive to enjoy toying with. Either way it is going to look good.

Thanks man. It's just being wasted in its current configuration.

Re: Build thread
Do what you want, but I agree. Not that I think it sacrilege to convert, but who cares if you take it off road? Either way, its sweet.

Re: Build thread
Yep, good excuse to buy and rescue another one. Mudding is over-rated anyway. I have a lift and mud tires on my mil-blaze but would not subject it to a mud hole. Either way though, nice truck and the black one looks good too.

Re: Build thread
While I love a nice 2wd lowered Blazer, your current set-up is looking extremely nice. There are many a 4wd that never see off-road (old & new). There's no shame in just driving & enjoying it on the road as is.
Nice job BTW.

Re: Build thread
Just about have all my parts rounded up. I got the front crossmember out of a 1990 model suburban. I found a really good deal on a new in the crate 4l80e so that's what I'm going with for a transmission. It's supposed to be good for 1000 HP and I'm only going to throw about 550 at it.

Re: Build thread
Nice. You are starting with a beautiful truck. I'll be following along. Been thinking about 2wd conversion with mine as well.
On a totally unrelated note, my mom lives in Lubbock. Grew up in Muleshoe. There are lots of nice rust free trucks out in that general area. Make sure to take lots of pics of the conversion process, it'll make my life easier! Mike

Re: Build thread
Thanks Mike. I will do. I'm about to die to get started but like everything else as an adult it's hurry up and wait. I hope to get started in about 3 weeks and I hop for the conversion to be done in a day or 2. We have a plasma cutter do I don't expect all the rivets to take me long to remove

Re: Build thread
Well I'm getting started a little late but after three days I finally got the back done. I had to drop the gas tank so that I could bolt up the rear hangers. While I had it down I went ahead and replaced the stock fuel pump with a fuel pump out of a 1990 zr1 corvette. Well a new one from scoggin dickey anyway. I've also gone a different route on a motor. A friend of mine made me a deal on his. Long story short it's got less than 20 miles on it and it dynoed at 722 Hp and 648 lbs of torque at the rear wheel. Anyway the back is done and it's time to start on the front. I'm a little scared on this part lol.

Re: Build thread
I've gotten away from the iroc wheels. Jason hill has talked me into racelime wheels. If anyone has pictures of these wheels on a square I'd love to see them

Couldn't get away from the thought that you get what you pay for and the more I looked at the irocs the cheaper they looked

Re: Build thread
I don't know if it's because the front is still all jacked up or what but it just doesn't seem that low. It's got a flip kit on the rear. My favorite thing about lowering a blazer so far is that I don't have to c notch it. There's still a ton of room between the frame and axel even with a flip.

Re: Build thread
I appreciate this build. It is possible to make your rig too nice for the intended purpose. I am doggedly trying to keep from making my 4x4 truck too nice, succeeding by doing nothing at the moment. I have a 2x (also not nice, ha) though so I don't have to choose but I understand the dilemma and the comments about having both. That said, I like what you're doing. You're getting after it. The 4x4 rendition looked great so I'm on board to see the progress on the 2x. Carry on! Maybe keep those 4x parts around so that when you come across a beat up and cheap option, you can build a trail-ready beast too!
