Rpo mm7?

My 85 C10 has an mm7 (manual with O/D.) I can't find much info, is it a rare option? Being new to trucks, what I've read was that usually manual with "granny gear" was best for towing. My truck has the tow package with heavy duty springs and shocks?

Re: Rpo mm7?

There is a thread on here that will tell you all you need to know about the A833 trans. Its got some great info in it. "Rare" and square bodies don't go together but it is a trans that you don't see as often. I've sold 3 2wd setups and 1 4wd setup in the last 8 months or so. They bring good money and can be a great setup when used in the right application.

Again, check out the thread. Good luck!

Re: Rpo mm7?

I had one with a np208 and sold it for about 300. It needed redone but didn't include the bellhousing. They are good for dailying but not the strongest.

Check out my build/intro thread for some detail:

MM7 was the "merchandised" option that the buyer would choose at the dealership. If you search on "MY6" (the non-merchandised option) or "New Process A833" you will find a ton of posts.

Mine was a daily driver and parts chaser for almost 30 years. I had no complaints but a little bit more first gear when trailering would have been nice.
