New guy here... '66 GMC 4x4 Rescue 'burb
Just joined because I picked this one up today... my first truck was a 62 stepside, I sold it years ago and have wanted a mid 60's GM truck ever since. I was looking for trucks today for a project at work and came across this beast. It had lived most of it's life on a nearby Army base, I haven't any other history other than that. It could have started as a forest service vehicle or whatever? Hopefully over time I will find out.
It's mostly solid, there are a couple of holes, but virtually rot free. The paint as you can see is peeling and there is just surface rust under it. I was expecting a disaster when I showed up, but I am more than thrilled at the overall condition. It has under 12,000 documented original miles!! Paid $500, not bad.. Enjoy the pics I'll keep everyone updated on the progress. Thanks for letting me join. Chris Last edited by giftshopduane; 06-21-2016 at 10:10 PM. Reason: added image |

Re: New guy here... '66 GMC 4x4 Rescue 'burb
Does it have power steering? If not, you might want to put that near the top of your wish list. Especially if you plan to keep the GMC big block V6, you will want to start searching for the upper and lower pulleys and PS pump bracket, which are specific to these GMC engines. They are hard to find and may take awhile, especially if you don't want to pay top dollar.

It lives... had him delivered today. Tossed some fuel down the choke and fired him up. Very happy!
