Super embarrassed that I even let this happen. Can't even explain it in a way to justify it. Not being careless or anything, but not paying enough attention in a parking garage. Makes me want to cry every time I think of it.

Pics show what it was to what it is now.

The truck isn't perfect, but has that paint job on it obviously so that helps a bit but also hard to duplicate. Ruined my spear somewhat, but it wasn't perfect to start, but still better than it is now.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Trying to decide if I should just start with paint to make it look less noticeable, or go ahead and have some body work done to fix it first.... or just paint for now and then as time goes by decide how much it bothers me and then maybe decide to get some work done on it.

Anyone have any tricks for fixing the spear? its tight getting up inside the two parts of those fleetsides in behind that spear.

No tricks, I had dents in both mine. One I was able to get close using a long "spoon" dolly. Other I pulled out with a dent puller and welded up the holes. I have hours in getting the crease correct.

Well I'd pull it out with a stud gun and then do the finish work and put a proper paint job on the truck but it isn't my truck. It may be that unless you plan to do finish body work on it after you have the ding out it will look worse for messing with it than leaving it alone for the time being. Better a battle scar with paint that matches the rest of the truck than a worked on spot that stands out from the rest of the truck.

Personally I don't really see what the big deal is...goes with the rest of the truck. I'd say let it go as is. A patina look is what you were going for wasn't it, well, that's real life patina.

I'm so sorry that happened - I know you feel terrible!

To help get over the pain, just take the truck to a body shop, have them fix it quickly and get right back to where you were before the incident. That will speed the healing time and reduce the agony. It shouldn't cost much and the quick return to "normal" will make it well worth it the minimal expense. If you fix it yourself, you will just agonize over it and berate yourself that much longer!

I appreciate the advice and tend to agree, just get it done and get back to normal as if it never happened. That also includes getting a new bullet hub cap too haha, that's the easy part.

the thing is finding the right body shop that will do a good enough job on the body work, and will be able to make the paint fix half decent.

That really sucks. A friend sent me a picture of your truck from Merrickville car show on the weekend. Looks like the drive home didn't go so well.

If they can keep the body work to the spear it's self you might get away with just painting both spears to match so that they still look proper with the rest of the truck. painted alike but aged alike. That way they would stand out a bit as spears but wouldn't stand out as being freshly painted nearly so much.
