Snapped this as I came back out from breakfast on my way to work, contemplating the recent threads questioning how capable the 80's trucks are of being daily driven. Averaging 100-200 miles a week, every week. Put 80 miles on it Monday running stuff to the dump, 175 the Thursday before that towing a Malibu with a blown engine, and 200 a couple weeks before that bringing a load (including a 4,000 lb+ hay baler) from an auction for my FIL - I never question whether my truck may strand me or not. I started with a straight, 77,000-mile AZ truck in 2007 and have done little to the drivetrain for having put 48,000 miles on it - the only time it didn't get me home (excessive fluid use not withstanding was when the coolant bypass hose (water pump to intake) blew and I had to fix it at work. Original paint, original drivetrain - they aren't inherently troublesome, guys, just gotta repair the right things the right way. Happy trucking.
