Wiring Harness
Trying to decide which wiring harness to go with. Put an AAW Classic update harness in my 55 Sedan. Works great, no issues and everything was relatively easy. Cost was 466.00 at the time I did it. Looking at the 50 3100 update harness best price I can find is over 500...
They do offer a 13 circuit harness that is more universal for about 300. Truck will be modified, but no AC, power windows, locks or any of that. Stock steering column. Just the basics but do want an "modern" harness. Can't justify the 500 for the Classic update as I don't need all those circuits. Brothers and others have some universal sets ranging from 200-300 but trying to figure which is best |

Re: Wiring Harness
13 circuits should be enough for your project
AAW is a nice kit, I have used It's a Snap, and EZWire and these have been good quality parts and no issues

Re: Wiring Harness
My brother bought a universal one from Speedway for his 40 Chevy coupe it was a lot cheaper in cost and each wire was labeled. He said it was an easy install and would buy again.

Re: Wiring Harness
Speedway harness is manufactured by EZ Wire. I have used both; they are identical. Good quality, economical price. My only complaint: some of the wires were too short to reach their destinations. I had to spice them longer.
I have also used Painless. Smaller wire diameter makes it easy to handle. All the wires are more than long enough to reach. Costs more.

Re: Wiring Harness
I had to call them three times and everytime the owner answered the phone and cleared up my question off the top of his head. Maybe luck, but I was happy with the product (21 Circuit System) and help I got.

Re: Wiring Harness
Glad you started this thread! I'm looking at using an AAW for my '59 panel, but not sure if I want to go with the specific kit for my truck or use the GM color code and save a couple $$... have a good friend who is telling me to spend the extra money, but budget it tight (as always)- is the extra cost really worth it???

Mac, I will likely go with the AAW 13 circuit harness. The complete classic update I used on my sedan was nice, but my truck does not have nearly as many needs. Pretty basic and for half the money, seems like a no brainer. If it is the same quality with fewer circuits should be fine |

Re: Wiring Harness
I use the one from Speedway also. $150. It works out good & you couldn't buy all the stuff for that.
