Value of a 4x4

I have a chance to buy this 61 gmc 4x4 and I was just wondering what the value on something like this would be? I have my 61 Apache but I only paid 150 bucks for it and that is incredibly cheap. Says it has rust above the windshield pretty good but the rest was really pretty solid. May go look at it this weekend. Everything is there as far as drivetrain and is all complete. What do you guys think? It is a v6 manual as wel.

Re: Value of a 4x4

Man, that thing is clean. Im not a good judge of what it's worth honestly because there isn't many up in the north east. The one I have seen for sale needed a LOT of body work and they wanted around $2-3K. I'd probably consider paying that if it looked as nice as this one. Nice truck.

Here's a 63:

Here's a 61:

Both appear to me 2x4 though. Your best best is to jump on Craigslist and see what people are asking for them if you can find any.good luck!

Re: Value of a 4x4

If it's cancer free, has a running 305A and the transfer case works properly I'd say 2-3K. For a GMC enthusiast like myself the original v6 adds value, though it would more than likely get replaced with a larger v6. haha An all original GMC will add value to it.

Re: Value of a 4x4

Looks pretty good to me on the outside. floors and rockers can be replaced if rusty. Looks like it has the 17.5 rims on it, that is a plus as they are hard to find. I payed $2500 for mine and it was pretty ruff. (a picture in my build). being a 4x4 i don't think there would be any difference in value being a gmc or a chevy. (maybe to TJ lol) more pics----

From what I have seen GMC's tend to hold more value...just what I have noticed. Best way would be to look at the blue book and see I guess.

Re: Value of a 4x4

Took a look at it today. Not a bad old pickup, all there very solid floors supports and corners and driver side rocket. Passenger had about a four in long hold on the bottom. Bed has some damage fenders are pretty solid no rot in the mounts. Nice inners. Does have all four 17.5 rims. The worst was above the windshield was real bad. I took some pictures. Motor turns by hand and one hub is locked up. They're asking 1000. Here are some pictures,

Re: Value of a 4x4

More..I guess what I'm asking is if it's worth paying that much for. Plan to drive it a bit then either use it to help with my Apache 4x4 build or sell it

Re: Value of a 4x4

I'd think that there is $1000 in parts. To bad the roof is so rough. Take a lot to save it but hard to find a 4x4. Does it have a title? Nice parts to put under our 60 gmc lol

Re: Value of a 4x4

$1000 is well worth it to me. Especially if the drive train is in good shape. Body parts are much easier to find.

Re: Value of a 4x4

For 1000 that would be a good winter truck for driving on salted roads and not have to worry about the cab as the roof is not worth saving, but here that's a 2000 to 3000 truck.

Re: Value of a 4x4

I'd say for 1k, go for it. Its worth it for the drive train, frame, and running gear.

Worse comes to worse swapping in a new cab shouldnt be too difficult. The 4x4's seem to be getting harder and harder to find. And if you can negotiate by saying that no aftermarket panels are made for the roof (absolutely true), except for the panel that goes from the windshield to roof on the 60-63's. You may be able to wack a couple hundred off the price. Either way 1k doesnt seem to be a bad price.

Re: Value of a 4x4

Thabks for the input guys. Waiting to hear back from him on it, just wish the roof rust wasn't that severe. I know if I can't buy the whole thing I'll go for the 17.5 rims for my Apache project. That whole front clip would look good on my Apache actually lol

Waiting to hear back on it, found out it does have a title at least. Meanwhile o went and began picking up the load of cabs i had to buy as a whole group instead of just a. Few. Here's a picture of 4 of the 12 cabs I've acquired

WHY are you worried about the cab on the 4X4 with that trailer load plus 8 more????? I would already have it home if I could get it for 1K and had cabs/parts

Re: Value of a 4x4

I paid $1,000 for my '62 k10, and got a chassis, running gear, and a lump of rusty holes with a VIN.
I overpaid, but they NEVER turn up here, and I really wanted it. I've got good replacement sheet metal... Except a cab... Know where I can get one cheap? Like maybe from a guy who has so many he's tripping over them? lol!
Get it.

Unfortunately they were all cut many years ago to man trailers out of the beds, but one I get them all home I'll be parting them or selling them whole
