5x5 to 5x4.75 conversion
I have searched and everything is for the Lighter Duty 1" rotors. I have the HD 1.25" rotors on my 73 and I want to change the bolt pattern to 5x4.75" bc the I have a wider selection of wheels with the 5x4.75" bolt pattern. I will be running a 15x6/15x12 wheel combo and if I can change it to 4.75 bolt pattern then I can have 4 wheels and tires for the price of just the rear wheels in tires in a 5" bolt pattern.
All of my front suspension stuff is new so i would like to do this without replacing too many parts. Please help

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.75 conversion
what wheels are you looking at? going to smaller rotors to get a better wheel price doesn't make sense.

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.75 conversion
He didn't say smaller rotors..just a smaller/car bolt pattern for better wheel selection.

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.75 conversion
You could have your rotors and axles redrilled for the 4.75 bolt pattern, or run spacers. Personally...id keep the 5 on 5 and spend the money...

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.75 conversion
I tried doing the opposite and going to 5.5 to run truck rallies on my s10 and I tried 3 machine shops all refusing to redrill rotors. Too much of a liability to them

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.75 conversion
The front will take new hubs and rotors the rear will take redrilling the axles or custom axles made and new drums.Honestly for the time of money that will cost the 5x5 rims might be cheaper then swapping lug patterns and buying rims.Have you looked around summit racing or jegs for the rims you want? Both have a lot of them in 5x5 and the size you want.

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.75 conversion
I'm not concerned about the rear bc I am building a 9" for it. I was concerned about the front and just like I figured, I will have to change out parts which I'm not going to do. It looks like I'll have to stick with the 5x5. The cost to send out my extra set of rallies to get them widened to 15x12 to try and save some money doesn't add up in the end. $195 per wheel to perform the service plus shipping to and from. It does save me from not having to buy front wheels but I will have at least $500-$600 wrapped up in the 2 wheels when it's all said and done. Thanks for all the advice and talking some sense into me.
There are plenty of wheels that I want in a 15x12 with a 5"BS but they are just a little pricier.

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.75 conversion
I thought all 73-up truck rotors are 5 x 5, even the light duty models in the 80s with 1" wide rotors. Other than re-drilling yours, you'd have to adapt passenger car rotors and maybe even spindles, and you'd end up with a very light duty setup.

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.75 conversion
Quote:
5x5" for 1/2 ton trucks. Different rotors for Lt duty (1.00"w) & HD (1.25"w) which have different bearing set's. The Lt duty rotors bearing set is common w/the F-body 1Le brakes which gives the car pattern but requires the Lt duty spindle & caliper set-up which is technically downgrading vs the thicker rotor. To keep HD 1.25" thick rotors & get a car pattern, one would have to re-drill the pattern, use adapters, or wait for some aftermarket company to make some.
