WTB Hood to Hood hinges, Bolts
Well it looks like my painter lost my bolts. I'm looking for 3 bolts that bolt the hood to the hood hinges. This would be for my 65 1/2 ton peek-up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: WTB Hood to Hood hinges, Bolts
There are 2 on either side that bolt the hood to the hinges. You mean the ones on either side that bolt the hinge to the inner fender at the spring?

Re: WTB Hood to Hood hinges, Bolts
The bolts I'm looking for are the ones that go into the hood. Hood to hood hinges. We left the hood hinges fastened to the inner fenders. We undid the bolts from the underside of hood, so we could put the hood on the table to sand and paint. The painter screwed the bolts back into the hood while he was working on it. Then when went to mount the hood back onto the hinges, we found that three of the bolts were gone. Not sure how that happens. But, I guess stranger things have happened to our trucks while in the shop. Thanks

Ahhh I was confused when you said 3 bolts. You need 3 of the 4 then. Let me see what I have.

Yes, I have one of the 4. Need 3. Would appreciate any help you can provide. I can and will cover your asking price and shipping. I just happen to be a bit fussy about my original stuff. Thanks

Re: WTB Hood to Hood hinges, Bolts
Mine actually have a star type lock washer on them. I'll have to measure. I guess I should say I'm only assuming that the one I'm left with is original. My truck is very original and most of the original hardware is still intact. I do appreciate your help.

Ok
I looked at my '66 and it has the washer type pictured, but couldn't remember if they were pointed or blunted. Always try to keep the bolts when parting stuff out so have a few buckets full. Let me know what yours looks like and an address and I will stick them in an envelope for you free gratis. |

Re: WTB Hood to Hood hinges, Bolts
I believe the 66' are different from 65' and older. 66' has the flat washer and 65' and older have the star washer. Learned this from the experts here, thanks to them for sharing their knowledge.
Can post photo of ones with star washer if needed. Les |

Re: WTB Hood to Hood hinges, Bolts
Photos of the hood hinge bolts for 65' and older trucks.
Hope this helps. The bolt head marking are "ELH" with circles around the letters. The marking are just one of the bolt manufacture GM used. This specific bolt head markings, is not needed to be correct, other head marking include but not limited to, an anchor image, "S", and others. The length of the threads is 3/4", per Rocknrods good question below. Les Last edited by aotte1; 10-09-2016 at 08:33 PM. |
