1969 Suburban Ambulance
Hi all. I am pleased to be back on the 67-72 Chevy Truck forums!
I just picked up this exceptionally clean 1969 Suburban Ambulance & the plans for a build are beginning to form in my head. I have not built a C10 since my '67 C10 about 6 years ago... (build thread & YouTube video...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=455024 videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTc1W7Xgo-U) At any rate, here are a few photos of the new acquisition. 1969 / 24,900 miles, 350, turbo 400, AC, PB, PS. By far, the most solid unrestored C10 I have ever seen. it has had a respray at some point, though I don't know when. If I were a guessing man, I would estimate some time in the 90s, but will likely never know. Here is the limited information I have on the truck. Originally in use in Hugo, Colorado. Sold to an individual in Hugo who eventually sold it to a collector in Bend, Oregon. The collector in Bend passed away and a friend of mine bought it + about 35 other cars from the estate about 5 years ago. It was transported to Michigan & has been sitting in a building collecting dust the whole time. I first saw it in photos from Oregon when my friend was dealing with the executors of the estate. I knew at that time that I wanted it, but was in the middle of building my '67, so the timing was not right. Fortunately for me, the truck came to Michigan and was stored away - out of sight for others to see. The photos posted are after I gave it a good bath. I have put about 150 miles on it already this week & with the exception of some wobbly tires at 50+ mph, it runs very well. I would already trust it to go about anywhere. This will be a fun project. That is it for now. As things progress, I will post more info & photos.

Some "dirty" photos, plus a photo from Oregon with the ambulance in the background - this is the first photo I saw of it about 5-6 years ago.

That looks like a cool ride.
Dual spots and a built in bunk. You shouldn't have any trouble with people getting out of your way. I would love to drive that baby. Cal. |

Beautiful rig and very complete! Looks to be a National or maybe a Miller-Meteor?
I've got a 'burbulance too and just posted an update on my project: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...25#post7743325

Re: 1969 Suburban Ambulance
Hi Paul. I've had it less than a week, so plans are still forming in my head... That being said, I think a modernized version of this truck could be very cool. Suspension, tires & wheels and disc brakes all around will be the first things done.

Re: 1969 Suburban Ambulance
We hosted a halloween party in our barn a couple weeks ago. We simply could not resist the urge to have some fun with the Ambulance...

Re: 1969 Suburban Ambulance
Sweet looking ambulance. I picked up a 72 not that long ago. From the front of the bump up they look pretty similar, but the rest of your roof looks a bit different than mine. I'm glad yours still has everything in the back, helps me picture how mine may have looked before I got it.
Good luck man |
