1971 k20 dana 60 parking brake levers help
I have a 1971 chevy k20 and found the parking brake equipment gutted inside of my rear drums. I ran all new cables to the back but have nothing inside the drum to hook the cables. can anyone help me with the original GM part numbers for all the parking brake hardware inside the left and right drums from a dana 60?
I would be willing to buy the entire brake system or any parts needed. I need these parts to finish a restoration and would be willing to pay top dollar or trade parts. Thanks Matt |

Re: 1971 k20 dana 60 parking brake levers help
These are all the numbers I have:
'71 GMC K25 dana 60 with 12" brakes parking brake lever (inside of drum) P/N 5462841-L (left side) (didn't record the right side, will check on Monday, mine's in pieces) right side P/N 5462842-R parking brake lever return spring ( sits between lever & shoe, keeps lever up on top of adjuster) Raybestos H2151-2 parking brake strut P/N's 5453803 I had a broken parking brake strut & placed a WTB on the parts board. I thought the Chevy trucks still ran a 52 in the rear in '71? Are your brakes 12" x 2.5"? This size was a one year only thing if I'm right. Last edited by B. W.; 10-24-2016 at 12:43 PM. Re: 1971 k20 dana 60 parking brake levers help
Old parking brake parts aren't always available for D60s and HOs (or at least I haven't found them easily yet) - I had a hard time locating parts for my 71 C20 with a D60. inline tube was helpful in building new parking brake cables from cores, but sounds like you have that suitcased already. I'd recommend going to the parts forum http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...ysprune=30&f=8 and posting a want-to-buy ad - you can reference these pictures - maybe stick some arrows or circles on them to show what you need and someone that is parting a whole truck can probably help you. I'd post the WTB ad and also scour all the 3/4 tons being parted - and I bet you'll have the parts you need pretty quickly. Below is a redone 71 Dana 60 rear brake setup for ref (passenger side) - if you follow the parking brake cable coming in from the right to the left from behind the backing plate in picture 2, you can trace along to what the end of the park brake cable slips into. It's the innermost lever arm that fits behind the rear shoe and, in pic 1, attaches to the spreader bar. Hope this helps.
