Best Body Panels?

Which brand/company offers the highest quality body panels specifically bedsides? Some dope last night backed out of a parking spot, onto the street where I was waiting for the light and used my bedside as a boat fender.

Re: Best Body Panels?

GM makes/made the best panels...I'd personally hunt for good used panels as opposed to foreign aftermarket made of cheaper material that don't fit as well. Just my opinion.

Re: Best Body Panels?

If you have as much rust there as we do here you might want to rephrase the question to "Who makes the best aftermarket body panels?".

Re: Best Body Panels?

I agree OEM are always best..... but getting hard to find nice OEM stuff. I am restoring a rusty 82 right now. I ordered rockers/cab corners etc from a company out of the US called "Key Parts". I'm sure they are stamped off shore, but quality is surprising. They are actually as thick, or slightly thicker than OEM. Fit was pretty good as well.

They don't have prices listed on their website. Did you order through a bodyshop? How did it go getting the shipment into Canada?

Re: Best Body Panels?

I'll have to check out Key Parts.

I'm in the bad part of KY....rust sucks! Unfortunately I bought this truck out of California last year and it was straight as an arrow, all original body & paint with the exception of the hood. Could have spit nails when this bone head backed into me.

Re: Best Body Panels?

Kinda pricey but the ad says new GM bedsides. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/pts/5907645443.html

Re: Best Body Panels?

Hi Evan, there is a place in West Edmonton call "CAPS" that carries "Key Parts". Not sure where you are in Sask..... but maybe a distributor in one of the major cities as well.

Re: Best Body Panels?

Might I suggest looking at pick and pulls? You can find them across US. Can find nice OEM stuff and have shipped, has some dents, better than after market stuff. Thin and fits suck. Id be willing to look here in NC for what you needed and ship. I pulled two very descent front fenders a few months back out of local pick and pull. No rust, just a few dents.

Rip,

Thanks. If you have time I'd appreciate it. Would need the driver's bedside with the round fuel port. Everything at a up pull here will be rusted to hell but I'll check.

Thanks Barry. I'll check it out. I've also heard that Scott's Super Trucks in Penhold is expanding their line of square body parts too.

Re: Best Body Panels?

So, what's the general consensus on Key Parts? Are they good or bad? My trucks got an owie thats been beat out with a hammer and bondo. It's more than my dad can fix and the body shop most likely wont want to touch it without buying a patch or bedside to cut from.

Other side of the fender has some rust.

Re: Best Body Panels?

I ordered some patches from Jegs that were made by key parts. I haven't looked too close but they look like great pieces. I ordered inner fenders, driver bed fender, and the inside piece of that bed fender. I got free shipping too, arrived in a few days on a pallet.

Not a single individual part was over $50...
