66 steering column
Has anyone rebuilt a steering column? Do you need a bearing puller? Can you just basic tools?

Lower bearing. Use a paper cone inside the lower bearing to keep the bearings in place until you install the race. Use lots of bearing grease too.

Mine was cut quite deep from failure of the lower bearing. If you can find a collapsible 67 shaft it can take the place of the 66 shaft.
Besides a replacement bearing an alternate bushing is also available. As mine is a 4sp I don't know if shift linkage would make any difference in the use of that bushing. |
