My 84 K10 project

OK, I'm going to try and do a build thread. It'll be slow, and a budget deal. This will be my daily driver, so I'm going to try and get the engine in, 700R switched to a 350 turbo as soon as I can. I have done installed new ball joints, 1 RS tie rod end, calipers, all brakes including wheel cyl, spring kit, axle bearings and seals, front wheel bearings and seals. I've put a turn signal deal in the column along with a new dimmer switch, 2 sealed beams, and I have new tail light lens with chrome along with the housings for the rear. Pics of the engine I just finished.

Re: My 84 K10 project

Weel, finally, they're a little big, but they are right side up. I'll post a pic of the truck also, later I'll post more. The engine is a .030 over stk short block, flat tops with a Lunati voodoo cam, hyd, the 781 heads have 2.19, 1.88 stainless valves, been all gone through with new springs, retainers and a 3 angle valve job. I had all this stuff already, so I went with what I had. MSD street fire dist, Wieand intake. Stk rockers, cheap Summit valve covers.

Re: My 84 K10 project

I made my own center trim for the grille, turns out I had a 86 grille in my truck and I bought an 84 so when it wouldn't fit I made my own.

Truck looks like a good solid start, and your engine looks very nice! Why are you swapping out the 700r4 for a th350?

Re: My 84 K10 project

Re: My 84 K10 project

350 will be fine. Friends building it and he done all my glides in the dragster I had and he done the 350 turbo in my chevelle, it puts out way more than this 454 ever will. The 700 would live with enough money put into it, but with 3.08's and 11.50 tires, I don't need it. It seems the interior trim is pretty brittle. Pulled the head liner out and it breaks if you look at it wrong. Got a headliner kit to recover it, dash had a cover over it, it was cracked, dash pad looks even worse. Need at least a left side armrest, and a few other things for the interior. Guess I'll have to sell my sbc tunnel ram set up to fund this project. At least get the interior all together.

Re: My 84 K10 project

Update time, I've been doing body work, sanding and all the fun stuff. Got to get the bed loose and back some so I can do the cab corners. Got all the interior out. Rebuilding the vent assys I managed to break the left side glass. Got to make another trip to a junk yard I found that has about 30 or more square bodies. Got to get some other stuff anyway, he has some later truck 4 spoke steering wheels he priced for $25. Found a nice step bumper for $25 a guy has, just got to go get it. Also found a spacer that my buddy had so I can get the 350 turbo in and still use my driveshafts. Here's some pics.

Re: My 84 K10 project

This is a budget deal, so I was planning on single stage urethane. What do you all think about these colors, 1st is from TCP Global, electric blue, 2nd from Summit Racing, bright blue metallic.

Oh no!! I detail cars on the side to make a little extra money to support my Truck habit. Lately I've been sticking to just doing interior detailing because I hate waxing or polishing. And I even use a obital polisher, there ain't no way I would do it manually. So sorry, I guess I won't be much help block sanding.

Looks like fun! I do love a big block!

TKCR, we have a yard here that has close to 100 squares. One of these day's I'll count just out of curiosity. Every type you can imagine, no super rare parts though. Even a short step 4x4!

Wow that is just awesome. I'm lucky if I find a yard that has 1 or 2 Squares. I like to get some of those hard to find parts, the ones that they don't reproduce any longer.
But mainly my thing is now is salvaging bench seats to restore/recover. If there is a lot of seats, I just might have to hitch up the trailer and come down to Kentucky & North Carolina. I would be in HEAVEN!!
