No gas?
So the 84 won't start now. It's been sitting for about a month and ran awesome when I parked it. *Murphys law* anyways. One tank is almost empty and the other is 3/4 full. But after a month of sitting the filter went dry *glass filter* and won't get any fuel. I can see the filter flexing when I try to start it so I know it's pumping but no gas!. I tried switching tanks and gauge works showing I'm switching and can hear the switch click over but when I click back to full tank the valve makes a squealing sound. Any ideas?

Re: No gas?
Might first try filling the float bowl with gas through the vent and starting it. Sometimes the trucks need a little run time to push gas up to the carb.

Re: No gas?
I saw a trick a tow truck driver use when my 73 broke down on the road. He removed the wing nut from the air cleaner cover and poured a little gas in the hole around the air cleaner threaded stud. The gas will puddle in the small recession around the stud and trickle down into the carburetor. It worked in my case.
Ether sometimes work for old vehicles which have not moved in a while. |

Quote:
1-2oz of fuel will fill the float bowl. It'll run for 10-15 seconds on that. That much actual runtime will pull fuel up from the tank if you don't have leaks.
