switching rears?
Well turns out 86 k10 didn't come with a 12 bolt rear..**** if I ever knew lol.
Story is I ****ed the old g80 carrier up in my rear so I needed a new carrier, went from a locker to open diff..sad...thought I could just go out to the junkyard and find another g80 carrier for 12 bolt..i cant but I sure can find a **** ton of 10 bolts with g80's. So if my truck has a 700r4 trans to a 205 transfer case(not full time 4wd) to a 12 bolt rear and I wanted to switch back to a 10 bolt, what would have to change? would the driveshaft have to be shorter or longer? would I have to extend or shorten anything? wheel base still the same? |

Re: switching rears?
Supposedly the 12bolt uses a driveshaft that's 3/4" longer so you may have to shorten yours. The rear universal joints may be different as well. YMMV.

You sure that you have a G80?
