Hey all, I have been contemplating converting my 76 crew over to a 465/205. I'd like to retain the factory cruise setup thats on it. I know i've seen several manual tilts for these years, anyone have a truck or pic with a tilt/cruise column this year? I'd like to retain the "correct" column in it and not a newer column. Any info is greatly appreciated!!!

No one can shed some light? Was cruise available with manual trans in 76?

About the only difference is you'd need a clutch pedal switch, that's closed with the clutch pedal up, in series with the brake pedal switch.

Are you intending to install the stock type 70's Cruisemaster transducer setup? I've never had a working unit but some folks complained about hunting and surging with these... probably a spent transducer or vacuum leaks but never having run one I don't know for sure.

I'd avoid the 80's Cruise III setups as the parts are getting scarce.

You can roll your own using the Electro-Motor cruise units that GM used in the 1990's T400 chassis CK trucks, ST light trucks, some B-Bodies, and some F-Bodies among others. The only mildly exciting part is getting the right VSS and a stalk or button setup you like with the correct outputs. What you'll end up with is similar to the Rostra units using real GM parts rather than cheesy China made electronics. The Gen 3 F-body guys and TheDieselPage folks have fairly decent writeups on how to use these as well.

The GM Service Training Group textbooks for Cruisemaster, Cruise III, & Electro-Motor setups are available on the manuals page.

Hatzie, Thanks for the respond and the cruise info. I plan on using the stock cruise stuff thats already on my crew. I was just trying to find info out on wether they made a manual/tilt/cruise column in 76'. If i do the manual swap, i found a 76 k20 donor truck for EVERYTHING i need to do it. It has a non-tilt column in it but i would still grab it for parts or ?

You can swap the Turn/Cruise stalk from the AT column to the floor shift column.

If your stalk switch is not operating properly Dakota Digital makes replacements.
