Re: WTB/Spare tire rack for the front bumper

I made this for when my Four Wheel Camper is on the Blazer. Its basically a custom stanchion for the swing away carrier to attach to when the tailgate is off. It mounts into a receiver hitch mounted vertically and welded to the rear frame horn. When I remove the camper, the stanchion slides right out after loosening the two clamping/anti-rattle bolts. The only clue that it is there when the tailgate is back on is the small cutout in the rear bumper I had to make to make room for the stanchion between the camper and bumper. I also had to add another vertical bar to the swing away to mount the latching hardware to because the stanchion is in a different location than the mount on the tailgate due to the camper door location. I find this very convenient to have the tire back there. Only problem is that if someone is inside, they cannot open the camper door when the tire rack is closed.

I have talked to you about yours. I have one but it is the longer one would be better if I had the shorter one like yours.

Looks like you had to change the camper door handle.

Re: WTB/Spare tire rack for the front bumper

That flush mount paddle handle came on the camper door. FWC may have changed handle styles through the years. My camper was made in 1984.

I have seen front mounted tire carriers. Most of the time it is on a Blazer equipped with the GM Chalet camper. I am not a fan of those because they just impede airflow through the radiator. Hickey did produce one though. See attached page from 1975 catalogue.
