Window Channel Felts from Classic Parts
I got the replacement window channels for my '83 from Classic Parts and got the passenger side installed tonight. The installation went pretty well, but then when I went to crank the window up for the first time for a test run, it would go up about 3/4 of the way and get super tight. The window adjustments are the same as they've always been and I know it's going to be somewhat stiffer with the new felt, but this is way too tight. Anyone else use the new channel felts from Classic Parts?
Thanks.

Re: Window Channel Felts from Classic Parts
I used Classic Parts felt for the 72 C10 I use to have and also my current 74 C10 without any issues. It is a PITA to install in guides inside the door, but still no issues. May need to glue them in the guides, if you didn't, to hold guides in place so they don't slip and bind window if that is your problem.

Re: Window Channel Felts from Classic Parts
ClassicParts.com, right? I used their felts and glass channel on my 82. Not sure who makes them, but they work great and look like new after 18 months of sitting in the sun and rain. Same for their vent window seals, which are a real PITA to install (not their fault).
At the same time, I replaced the regulator with one I got from Classic Parts. My window was initially bound up too, until I adjusted the channel frames. Now the window goes up and down easily.

Re: Window Channel Felts from Classic Parts
When I did my felts and I and got everything together and adjusted it seems they were a little slow up top . Checked adjustment and was fine . So I sprayed some silicone spray on the felts and everything has worked perfect ever since . I thing there is some natural drag with the new install . Especially if you have not done the relay mod to get the voltage up .
Just be sure everything is snapped in the track proper & adjusted and spray it with the silicone spray . It did wonders for mine . The felts will eventually break in . |

Re: Window Channel Felts from Classic Parts
I used window felts, door seals, vent window seals from classic parts on my 78. Everything works great and is holding up ok after 6 years in sunny so-cal.
