Factory bend in frame?

Can anyone tell me what the small UP bend in the frame on the passenger side around the fuel pump area is for?

I want to cut it out and straighten it and don't remember anything needing that extra clearance on my set up?

Re: Factory bend in frame?

My guess was always for the heavy duty extended oil filters.

Oil filter clearance for I-6 engines.

Re: Factory bend in frame?

Is this the factory bend that you are referring to? (it is located forward of the cross member on the passenger side) Mine has this bend, but the truck is equipped with a 283 V8 rather than an inline 6.

Re: Factory bend in frame?

That's it, they didn't make frames different for v-8 vs I6.
