Ideal Paint For Red 1968 Steering Wheel & Column?
I'm looking to repaint my red '68 steering wheel and steering column. Does anyone have a brand and code for an accurate match? Is the paint different (thicker?) for the wheel, vs the column?

Anyone? I'd also be very happy to find one already restored.

I would think imron would work good. Find a body shop that works with older cars, odds are they will have what you need.

Any automotive paint will do it. There are old color charts with interior paint code on this forum. Use the search function, the interior code don't have paint chips just the code on the chip someplace.

Re: Ideal Paint For Red 1968 Steering Wheel & Column?
Is it a bright red? If so, Chevrolet called it a Light Red. I used Dupont Nason single stage paint. Since the original paint was a single stage paint. Paint code 544 Light red (2411 IE). I painted the the entire interior back to the factory color. I did use a Dupli-color clear coat , over the red on the steering wheel only. So when the clear coat starts coming off, instead of the color, all I have to do is re-clear instead of painting again.
