Poly Trans Mount and Sway Bar mounts - need help
I'm in the process of rebuilding my truck - I bought a new Poly Trans Mount and poly sway bar bushings. I have a couple questions on them I am hoping you guys can help with. Energy Suspension makes these but doesn't include any information in the boxes when you buy them.
The Trans mount - it comes with an extra bar which doesn't seem to go anywhere. I tried sandwiching it between the transfer case and the mount and it didn't seem to fit well like that - I wonder if this is for some other application? The bar I am talking about is at bottom of picture. The sway bar mounts seem to be too tall for the brackets - I have these bolts cranked down pretty good already. I wonder if I should throw some washers in here to take up the space? |

Re: Poly Trans Mount and Sway Bar mounts - need help
can't see your pics but I got their engine and trans mounts at the same time and the trans mount was 1/2inch too tall to work in my truck. had a bad driveshaft vibration til I put a stock one back in.
photobucket doesn't work for pic hosting anymore btw. they decided to start charging without notifying anyone.

Re: Poly Trans Mount and Sway Bar mounts - need help
I had put in an Energy Suspension poly trans mount, which came with a flat spacer plate that the instructions said I needed.
But I had a nasty driveline vibration, and (after a lot of experimentation), I went back to rubber on the trans mount. Many online forums suggest NOT using the spacer plate, and many more say DON'T use poly for the trans mount of you get vibrations. My truck was a LOT better with a rubber trans mount.

Re: Poly Trans Mount and Sway Bar mounts - need help
Some of the Energy trans mounts are taller than the factory rubber mount even without the spacer. This raises the tail of the transmission which changes your driveline angles which can cause vibrations. I stopped using them because of that.
