Cam for 355 with vortec heads
Okay engine guys, I need some help.
I am looking to build a 355 to go in a 3/4 ton pickup. The pickup will be driving out west and towing things back that I don't need: lol: I would like around 400lbft of torque. It will have a quadrajet on a Edelbrock Performer 2116 intake manifold. The 355 will have vortec heads and long tube headers, too. What is a good cam choice?

Re: Cam for 355 with vortec heads
I've been doing some reading up on the vortec heads and a lot of guys recommend Comp Cams XE262. This is the cam I currently have in my 350 so I'm looking forward to getting some vortec heads paired up.

Re: Cam for 355 with vortec heads
The RPM intake makes more torque the the standerd performer above 1500rpm, and most people either have torque convertors that flash higher then that or with manuals just don't drive below that rpm so it normally doesn't make sense to use the performer.
An XE262 or something along those specs from lunati's voodoo line would do great.

Re: Cam for 355 with vortec heads
The performer rpm only comes in square bore, do he'd have to use an adapter. That's probably why he's going with the performer 2116.

Re: Cam for 355 with vortec heads
Didn't even think about that, I've never run a quadrajet on anything. Performer it is! lol
