62 C10 LED Light issues
Recently purchase an awesome 62 Chevy C10... Everything worked fine (turn/flash/brake) until I installed new LED front and rear turn/brake lights. It already had the aftermarket turn signal switch and it's a 12 volt system.
After installing the LED's (type that just plug into the bulb socket), when I turn on the left signal both fronts light up bright and stay on without blinking and the rear left lights up very dim (nothing flashes) and the right is basically the same (both fronts light up bright without flashing and the right rear is very dim). I put one of the old bulbs back in and it started flashing but I'd rather keep the new LED lights. I am clueless when it comes to wiring and need help. Any ideas would be great, thanks! |

Re: 62 C10 LED Light issues
I hate to sound like an idiot but what is the best way? It's a plastic LED lens that plugs into the socket like a bulb. The sock is mounted in a metal housing. There's a black, white and red wire on the LED plug, do I need to splice into one of the wires and screw in somewhere and if so, do I have to do it to all four lights?

I will try to get a picture of mine. My led flasher had a black wire coming from it.

Re: 62 C10 LED Light issues
Ground the bed to frame. Hood to body, flasher to body to start.
Something like this: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

Re: 62 C10 LED Light issues
Yep. If you have LED lights and regular flasher you will be exhausted looking for the problem elsewhere. However grounds are a must also. So when you buy and install the flashers make sure your hood is grounded properly and the lights to the hood.
And the cab ground as well. And your bed, since that's where the tail lights are grounded.

Re: 62 C10 LED Light issues
As soon as I plugged in the Flasher (and grounded it) everything worked fine except the green turn signal light on the instrument cluster. It worked before the LED's but now nothing... I'm fine with it for now and will investigate it later.
Thanks again guys! |
