1960 C10 LS Swap Questions
I'm looking to pick up a 1960 roller and throwing an ls into it. From my research, it looks like there's no kits for the 60-62 cars due to the torsion bars and x frame??
Would a front end swap make it so the 64+ ls swap kits would work? Or is there an easy way to get an ls into a 1960? If anyone has any info on this please let me know! Thanks! |

I would want disc brakes before I added power!
There are some... probably more 62's for some reason but they should be sane.

Re: 1960 C10 LS Swap Questions
There are a couple build threads I came across recently, but I don't remember who they were. The two I read said they didn't have a problem with keeping the torsion bars. I think someone said something about using Camaro exhaust manifolds.

Re: 1960 C10 LS Swap Questions
The Camaro or TBSS manifolds fit tighter than any other .

Re: 1960 C10 LS Swap Questions
The 63-66 kits will work, just need a spacer , 1/2 inch, on top of the frame rail. No problem with the torsion bars.

Re: 1960 C10 LS Swap Questions
Interesting information here. I ended up picking up the truck last night and the more I think about it, the more I want to keep the torsion bars. So would this swap kit get the motor into there?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/63-67-Chevy-...tY5S32&vxp=mtr and will these headers clear? they're the cheapest I've found. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevy-LS1-LS...xUd9qP&vxp=mtr |

Re: 1960 C10 LS Swap Questions
The kit says 63 67. You have a 60?

Re: 1960 C10 LS Swap Questions
Yep, I have a 60 but above, oldusa says that the 63-67 kit fits with a 1/2 spacer. Can anyone confirm?

Re: 1960 C10 LS Swap Questions
Those motor mounts will work, with a spacer on the top frame rail. The trans crossmember will need to be shortened, 60-62 frames are narrower than 63-66 frames. The headers I don’t know, I used factory exhaust manifolds.

Re: 1960 C10 LS Swap Questions
I used some ebay weld in motor mounts in my 62 and made them bolt in for my 4.8 swap. Also made my own trans mount to fit between the x frame. Still running t-bars on drop spindles with disk brake. Used speed engineering shorty swap c10 headers with x pipe tucked into the t-bar cross member.
