fuel gauge problems

66 gmc truck i am having problems related to the brown wire that goes to the fuse panel i guess thats were it goes. but anyway i have ohm resistance at the fuel sending unit but the brown wire is disconnected up around the fuse panel. hoping someone can tell me were the wire goes

Remove gauge cluster far enough to see back of fuel gauge--do you see 2 receptacles with 1 'empty'?
