HELP on Firewall - Body paint or black?
Hello!
I am having a VERY difficult time deciding what color to paint the firewall... A little info on my truck... 64' frame off restomod build. The truck will be painted a color between gunmetal gray and silver - metallic of course and the chassis and every part attached to it is powder coated black. Should I paint the firewall the body color? If so, should I then paint the inner fenders the body color as well? If I do that, should I then paint the radiator support the body color too? OR Should I just paint all of it black? Why would I go with one versus the other (other than just preference)?? HELP!! I just can't make up my mind!! Thanks in advance! |

I did the body color as well. I did all of the inner fenders and other supports satin or semi-gloss black.

Re: HELP on Firewall - Body paint or black?
I prefer the firewall to be body color. The inner fenders, radiator support, etc, satin black.

Re: HELP on Firewall - Body paint or black?
Body paint is all fine unless you decide to repaint a different color down the road. Then you have to tear the engine bay apart to repaint the firewall. I have done this and it sucks. Not to mention that the body color looks great until you scratch it. Black covers this better and can be touched up easier.
I am working on a 66 C30 and plan on using the Saddle color that was used in the interior on the firewall- I think that this was stock depending on the factory that these trucks were built. I am using it on the interior as well. |

Re: HELP on Firewall - Body paint or black?
This is a great discussion. I’m planning on body color for the firewall, inner hood and inner fenders....satin black for hinges and radiator & radiator support. Great point on the repainting comment tho...but will cross that bridge if I need to. Lol.
