Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit on a TF?

Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit on a TF?
If so how do you like it? Any pictures?

Thanks Jim

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

The C-channel boxing plates and X-plates look like they would be a much stronger setup.

They have always had a reputation for high quality products but I think their price might stop a lot of guys with less than deep pockets. I'd have to build and sell about three trucks making a decent profit on each to be able to afford that unit. If money isn't an issue I think you would be really happy with it.

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

Thanks mr48chevy, I've only found 2 suppliers of full frame boxing plates and X-Member Progressive Automotive and No Limit. Because I have a dyno'ed 383 stroker with 517hp I really need both! Progressive was $819 and No Limit was $550.
I'm only look at the frame X-member No Limit X-Member-Kit not the whole frame!

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

imo you don't get a lot for that price and you still have to cut, fit and weld each piece
you can buy a lot of metal for $550 + $100 shipping

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

Well at this point of my build, I decided I don't have the needed hot cutting tools to easily and in a timely fashion make my own boxing plates and X-member, so I pulled the trigger and bought it. Now to completely strip everything off my frame so I can get it reinforced then got the rear c-notches in and mount my new Moser Ford 9 inch... I plan to at least drive the old girl for the first time this summer!

I bought the Progressive Automotive boxing plates, they were nice but still a lot of trimming and grinding,If I was to do it again I would just buy some 10ga steel and make myself

i used a $9 harbor fright 4.5'' grinder to cut steel plate
tf frame is pretty much the same dimension front to back,
when i bought the steel i had them shear it to the frame width
10 gauge channel or rectangular tube can be bought for x-members

most universal kits that need to be cut and welded in
don't take a whole lot more labor to make in the first place

I can tell you no limit has good customer service. They pick up the phone and answer questions. My tank was damaged during shipping and they sent a new one no questions asked. I will pay a bit extra for this kind of customer service and American made quality product.

I did all the boxing, cross members and rear notch myself for under $200.

I do like the looks of the Progressive Kit though!!

Great work, but man that’s a lot of steel! What are your horsepower goals?

Thanks!! Honesty for what I'm going to run it's probably overkill. I have a 383 stroker for it that I doubt is over 450 hp. I just wanted something different than the original cross members that were there. Plus room to grow into more HP.

I wanted to do tube, but don't have a tubing bender.

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

Dagel’s has a simiar kit to the No Limit one. The price is much easier to swallow too.

I’ve been having trouble with their website, but the have an ebay store.

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

Well I caught a nasty cold that has knocked me down for the last 3 weeks, so I'm back to working on the No Limit X-Member Kit! 1st pic is of everything stripped off the frame.
Then 1" steel pipe and a 2" steel pipe cross members welded in so frame can't move.
Then the next one is the factory cross members removed, needed to cut in half to remove...
the last one is the No Limit slid into place just for a visual...

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

Notice I took the 1" tubing X out, it picked the passenger rear corner up 1/4" from the weld heat in the center, it was the last piece I welded in! Driver's side in, then passenger's side, and so on...

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

I guess I should just make an install post for this so if anyone wants to see it like I did, it's a littler easier to find as I couldn't even find 1 picture of it anywhere!

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

i do like how the kit supports the front cab mounts, but....
you could have done the same job with all that bracing metal you bought
similar to what flame and ogre did; just sayin'

nice work

Re: Has anyone used the No Limit X-Member Kit?

Dang that looks nice Idbeast, nice work too.

I'd agree on No Limit's customer service they are quick to respond to Emails and if you call or email they give honest and well thought out answers. Years ago when they first did the forward tilt hood I thought I wanted one and contacted them and at that time Rob got right back to me and says "No you don't, we are having too many issues with it" Not many companies are that honest.

As far as the cost goes, it is either time spent or money spent. Some times it is just better to spend the money rather than trying to piece something together and apply the time saved to getting more done. Even for a low budget guy like me the difference in cost between going to the steel yard and buying metal and coming home and fabricating the piece from scratch and buying and assembling it with a bit of trimming the cost difference may be worth it in the long run.

I've discovered one thing since I retired at the first of the year and that is some times having things ready made so you can just go to it rather than spend hours fabricating pretty much the same thing does have it's advantages. I don't have the energy I did 30 years ago nor does my back or knees like standing in one spot for hours on end. For those who are younger and working productive shop time means a lot when you only have a few hours at a time to work on the projects.
