Messy mice
Look what i got into today. Peeled back some rust only to find the reason for the rust in the first place. I figured the rust was from the drip rail leaking inside.

Re: Messy mice
The only reason for keeping pet mice is so that you can fed them to your pet snake. All other mice are only good for making a cat's breath bad.

Wow. Who would think they could do that much damage? I thought my heater box was bad. Makes you wonder what is hidden sometimes.

Re: Messy mice
Their urine is probably the main reason that rusted out as much as it did....its very caustic stuff.
The are awful things, vermin..... Coley

Re: Messy mice
Honda’s use of a soy-based wiring has caused many Honda owners to form a class-action lawsuit against the company due to mice and other rodents chewing through wiring harnesses.

Re: Messy mice
I worked with a guy who had a backup vehicle that was a jeep Cherokee. It sat outside and 2 different times the squirrels chewed up the gas lines.

I have a '92 Subaru and packrats have been at the wiring. Packrats also like to eat cactus and leave the spines around the nest to protect it from predators. Once they ate thru the Cam Angle Sensor wires under the air plenum and that car wouldn't start. I tried a soldered slice job. No go. Called the Subaru dealer: $300 for the harness, O'Reilley's, $242. Went to a Pick-A-Part, $5, and it worked. Bastards also ate thru my RH front turn signal lines. I patched it up after jacking up the front end, pulling the RF wheel, pulling off the plastic fender skirt and getting to the lamp harness. Two months later they ate thru the new harness. ''Hey look Minnie, fresh licorice." Haven't got around to fixing it yet, but I have been collecting 1/2" flex conduit. Here a lot of people leave the hoods of their vehicles up. The packrats don't feel as secure if cats can get to them. Problem here in the Southwest is the packrats would probably taste it and say: ,,i Sabrosa. Los cables con suave sabor!''

Re: Messy mice
I wish they hadn’t done away with The Esso tiger in your tank. Maybe he could’ve kept them out. LOL. They are definitely destructive.

Re: Messy mice
That's not rust, that's urine burn-through! Ewwww....
I moved a bucket seat today and about a bushel of little corn-nut things fell out of it. I feel your pain!

Re: Messy mice
There's a open spot on both side's of the cab corner area that goes all the way up next to the door pillar to cab roof. Basically same area as where the clothes hanger is. I suppose it's left open to let the cab breath better.

Re: Messy mice
I used to be an exterminator. An old company salesman told me a few things about the job (and nature) that make sense.
You don't need chemicals to keep pests out, you just need the right predators. Birds of prey eat birds, cats eat mice, snakes eat mice, lizards eat spiders, ants eat termites. He also said cat urine was a great mouse repellent. I'd like to do some qualitative study in those areas some time. |
