64 C10 Sway Bar
I have a 64 C10 with a 1978 C10 complete cross member installed. I want to install a sway bar and was wondering if I need any special mounting brackets to install it. Will this bolt right up or will there be some fab to do.
Thanks for all your help. |

Re: 64 C10 Sway Bar
I bought a new sway bar from POL, I have their tubular control arms and bought the mount kit. I was not aware this kit didn’t come with the frame mounts, I am running 2.5” drop spindles, do I need to run factory height mount brackets or should I buy the lowered version of them?

Re: 64 C10 Sway Bar
If you are at stock ride height all you need is a '63-'87 sway bar and all of the attachment brackets and hardware.. You will have to drill 4 holes in the bottom of your frame to bolt up the frame mounts.

Re: 64 C10 Sway Bar
I have POL’s tubular upper and lower control arms, with 2.5” drop spindles. Should I get the lowered brackets? Anyone have a measurement as to where to drill the front holes?

Re: 64 C10 Sway Bar
What springs are you running? That is what determines the brackets. To locate the holes assemble everything and use a pair of vice grips to hold the brackets to the frame once you have everything where it looks good. Drop the bar out and drill through the brackets to get the holes done.

Re: 64 C10 Sway Bar
As I recall I used a floor jack (with a rubber pad) to hold up the sway bar up with the bushings and brackets. Attached it to the a-arms properly got it centered front to rear, side to side and then marked the chassis using the brackets as a template. Then I drilled the holes for the brackets then reassembled. I will get some pics of the installed unit.
Jack pad - http://www.prothanesuspensionparts.com/191402 The POL sway bar comes with the brackets to attach it to the POL a-arms. Okay I installed it (originally) with the a-arms level and there was one factory hole I used see 2nd pic.
