to those cutting your long beds

Question....I have removed the bed, the bolts that face the cab and the 2 on the front by the bed rail. What else do i need to remove in order to have the bedsides seperated?

Q2 when cutting the bedsides, what are the measurements to remove? I know in total it needs to be 20 in.

Anyone got any pictures of the progress in doing so?
Theres a few out there but im sure more of us are interested in seeing what others have done. Thanks

It’s 12” out in front of the wheel opening and 8” out behind the wheel opening. I do know that on the 60-66s the longbed wheel opening is 2” wider than the shortbed. Most just cut the bed down and don’t worry about that. It’s nice too if you’re running big wheels, gives you extra clearance. But if you want to make it look factory correct, I’m not 100% sure where to take the 2” out of the opening.

So you know the short fleet bedsides are now reproduced right? About $600/side, thinking strictly financial, what cost will you have in the mods on your LOng fleet cut down, how many hours of labor if you do it yourself?? Plus whatever bodywork on top of that?

Just thinking out loud here.

yo clyde thats too much moneys man, plus i like doing my own stuff but thanks aha and yes im aware that they r out there.

Still those threads it doesnt show how they remove the bedsides. Someone told me they had a few small welds but im not sure where

I have a ton of pictures. I cut my frame and got new bedsides.

The only welds are on the rear cross member. They're bolted at the front.
