Steering column length

I have a 48 GMC with no steering column, what length of after market columns do you use?

Re: Steering column length

What steering box or front suspension do you have? Do you want tilt, auto column shift? That makes a difference. If you want tilt, and auto column shift then a 32" might be good.

Re: Steering column length

I am using a GM tilt, column shift in my 1950 with M2 front. My column is 32"
from top of bell below steering wheel to end of shaft. It goes through firewall just enough for shifter linkage, and the shifter arm is close to the dash. I could not use a shorter column.

Re: Steering column length

I agree, you won't be sorry at 32 inches.
