Looks like aero is going into overdrive...200R4

The Powerglide needs a look at so I thought to switch it out for a 200R4. My buddy has a 200R4 to donate to the cause. Haven't seen it yet so I don't have the codes from the passenger side stamping to know what it's out of. I'll have it rebuilt instead of the non original Powerglide.
I'm running a Holley four barrel on the inline 6 so the adapters for the TV cable exist.
Seems the Powerglide yoke is the same as the 200R4.
Gonna use the stock lockup convertor for now to see how much it will stall out.

From what I'm reading so far the crossmember might have to be moved back to accommodate the 200R4 mount?

Will a stock TV cable reach the carb , offset on a 6 compared to a V8?
Are their different length cables?

How do you link the original automatic column shifter rod to the 200R4?

PLease , if you've done the conversion or know of some links to the install, please post the info. Pictures would be great.

Good for you on the 200R4. Yes the 200 mount is farther back:

So it looks like 5 11/16 to push back the 3xisting crewmember. Thank you for that.

http://truckandcarshop.com/trucks60_72/t60_064.html Look for the column shift conversion linkage kit. This is what I used. It seems to work good.

Another Buddy was saying someone must make an adapter , and well thanks to you for showing me the link. Have gone to their store before but Cali runs are few and far between now so I'll have to have it shipped.

You can get it from other places too. I think Summit sells them also.

Re: Looks like aero is going into overdrive...200R4

Just did this swap this last summer in my old 66 GMC Suburban. I learned a lot. I used http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/ cable and linkage kit . They have a great write up on how to set the cable and tune the linkage to the trans. ( probably saying that wrong ) Shortened the driveshaft and moved cross member back , used stock shift linkage with a few mods. Also put in a lock up converter switch in the side of this trans. Seems to work well .

Re: Looks like aero is going into overdrive...200R4

So made appointenment with the tranny shop for today, company gave the A OK to take the truck and flatbed to bring the donated 200R4 to the shop. Got the friends together to carry it out of the storage garage and,,,it's not there. My buddy can't figure it out of where it's GONE???
The tranny shop has 3 cores in stock luckily. We discussed my setup and he's going to use the better drum and heat treated input shaft he has in stock. He said to use a Grand National stock converter which should stall at around 1800 rpm.
Thanks 60-66 for the link. Interesting to see the switch for trailering. Gonna be pulling the shortened Airstream I have so that will have to be discussed with the tranny builder.
