72 2wd Highlander need advice
Am trying to get some opinions on a couple of things.
#!. My Glove box tag says I'm to have the df210 mirrors I think they are to big, what do you think ? #2. I just finished the interior the winter, tell me how feel about it. #3.the engine compartment is stock and showings its age, should I clean it up but keep it looking stock or LS3 swap ? This will get me started, Thank you for the help in advance, p.s. This winter I changed out the original th350 and put in a 700r4 and I LOVE IT, still have the th350 keeping it just in case. |

Re: 72 2wd Highlander need advice
1. I think the mirrors look fine.
2. Interior looks awesome. 3. I would keep it stock. Pretty awesome truck. I like it a lot. I have never seen a 2wd highlander blazer. |

Thank you Brian, the mirrors on the blazer in the photo are not the df210 look them up on this site and see what you think then, I think it would look like dumbo.. again Thank you.

Re: 72 2wd Highlander need advice
I think I would stick with the stock engine as well. If it were mine, I would grab some Simple Green and spray it (on a cold engine) all over and let it sit for a little bit, then I would hose it off and see how it looks. I think with a bit of elbow grease and some products that would clean up really nice. And as you know, you don't see too many like yours so (to me) keeping it stock(ish) would be the direction I would go.
Besides-anyone can put an LS engine in a truck

It is just my opinion, maldo, and worth what it cost
You have a cool rig; what part of CA are you in? I'm down in San Diego County (Escondido).

Re: 72 2wd Highlander need advice
Is the motor original to the truck? What's the stamped code on the block just ahead of RH cylinder head?

Yes it is, the number is V040TDJ the block code tells us its from Michigan and the blazer was built in Flint. It has 70k original miles.

Re: 72 2wd Highlander need advice
I'd keep the smog equipment with the original motor. It's a rare historical vehicle you have and would stand out among the sea of modified original 2wd and 4wd conversion K5s if originality is preserved. IMO it's a true gem as manufactured.

Re: 72 2wd Highlander need advice
I would definitely buy the rear cover. Bought my 72 Highlander off the forum and the front seats were done. Back seat cover is on backorder indefinitely.

Re: 72 2wd Highlander need advice
Since this is morphing into a seatcover conversation I must point out that Highlander Blazer rear seats should have the scroll work vinyl center inserts and the ribbed vinyl back to be "correct".

Re: 72 2wd Highlander need advice
Hey Maldo, I met you at the Budweiser show last September. I would keep the mirrors you have. The camper mirrors are a bit bulky.

Re: 72 2wd Highlander need advice
Very nice find.....!
As close to stock as it is.....keep it that way... For these Gen 1 K/5 Blazers and GMC Jimmys......stock is cool....as well as the many that have been modified....that's cool too... You have acquired an investment.....best of luck with it....!

Re: 72 2wd Highlander need advice
Nice Blazer. I’m swapping in an ls3 in mine along with a 4l80e. I personally thought it over and since I’m keeping mine I don’t care about the original 350 it had. I think if you were going to sell it then originallity would be important as it likely would increase the value. My highlander covers are currently being made by vendor truckseats’ source. I’ve been waiting 6 months but I know they will be worth it. Once you deck the engine during a rebuild the matching numbers will be lost. Of course I’ve never seen anyone worried about a matching numbers Blazer. Maybe that will change?
