Windshield Chrome Beading

Thanks for all the help that has gone my way as I am still learning about these "Square Bodies".

Want to ask about a 67 to 72, I can mostly answer that. But still learning these trucks.

Anyway, I'm going to have to replace the windshield on my 83. It has that chrome beading that will need replaced also.

Here's my question.....Does that chrome beading have to be installed onto the rubber before installing on the windshield?

Or, can I install that after the windshield has been installed?

I also think that there is 2 different style rubber gaskets. One w/chrome beading & one without the chrome. Is that right?

(Ok, more than 1 question)

Thanks again for all the help....

Molding goes in last with a special tool, Yes there are two different moldings.

Re: Windshield Chrome Beading

This video posted a couple weeks ago by Precision Parts looks like it takes a lot of the aggravation out of getting the corner moulding pieces in. At the very least it shows you what you are getting yourself into.

Re: Windshield Chrome Beading

I got the black lockstrip and tool to install it from LMC. I had a new chrome strip installed when I had the windshield replaced in my 83 and it turned black in 1 month in the HotZona 115+ degree heat. I have not yet installed it, but it does not look like a fun task.

I’ve got NOS GM chrome windshield beading still in the box-they better not turn black in the humid Iowa heat!!
