Please Name That Part
I was using the impact to remove the cab mounts on my 1973 C20 and in the dust and crust on the garage floor underneath the passenger side footwell mount, I also found the part pictured below (two different views of the same part).
It's not piece of the mount bushing. Is it a front end part jarred loose when I was working on the cab mounts? Something else that coincidentally dropped off my truck? Or a stowaway that went for a ride in the innards of my truck but doesn't actually belong there? Any help would be appreciated... |

Looks like the nut that goes on a full floating rear axle.

Re: Please Name That Part
not super familiar with automotive sizes of these types of parts, but sure does look like a spindle nut of some kind to me..
notches and reliefs cut into them are for tools like these.. a little easier to make consistent bearing adjustments than channel locks.. as for the one in the op, looks to have a hex shaped flange to make adjustments.. here's a sample of a 14 bolt FF nut I found quickly googling that does look similar.. may belong to an altogether different make / model / year vehicle considering where it was.. good luck!

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I can rest assured that it's not from my truck. It must have been a hitchhiker; debris kicked up into the fender area or frame and finally dislodged when I was doing my work. |
