1966 283 engine paint

I just purchased a 283 out of a 1966 chevelle. I plan on putting this engine in my 65 c10. I have researched and found that in a 65c10 the engine color was gray? Was wondering two things. First is this correct? Second if so what brand/ color gray engine paint has anyone used. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jim W

Grey is correct, no code for it but no one will be the wiser as most are not stock.

Has anyone found a decent match for this color? Closest I’ve found is chevy medium gray.

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...=795604&page=3 I had just a little bit of paint left on my oil pan when I rebuild my engine. I went to the auto paint store and matched it up and used a single stage paint. You can find The formula on post #47 or 62. 62 doesn't have paint smudges all over it.. I made it easier. Here are the pictures and what the color looks like.

I did Ford engine gray, as I can get it anywhere and touch it up easy. But I'm no purist.

Re: 1966 283 engine paint

Most people did know that this truck came with gray engines. I found that KBS coatings has the Chevy gray paint.
