engine power which is the max approved force for the blazer K5 4x4

I know that the Blazern was sold with 350 V8 with the power
Net Hp 175 @ 4000 rpm
Torque, lb-ft 290 @ 2400 rpm

But how powerful engine is it approved for?

Are there any certificates or technical information about this?

Thanks in Advance

Are you asking this because of legal restrictions or because you want to know how much power it can handle?

My guess is that he is asking for legal reasons. I know some European countries will only allow engine swaps if the engine has the same or less power than factory options. If you can't prove it, you can't register it for on-road use.

Edd China talks about it on this program: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaW9Sg5NPyE

Yes, it's true, the car is from California and has been imported to Sweden and is now being registered in Sweden.
The engine that is in is not stock.
If I can not show that Blazer is approved for stronger engine than stock, it's ok to increase horsepower by 20% and torque by 10%.

But I know you in the United States have Blazer with Big Block engines, so I can only show that there are approved for stronger engines, so it's no problem to be approved in Sweden.

Do they actually TEST the HP & TQ....? How are they going to know? otherwise you can build a factory 350 to have much more than 175 HP and it will still look like the factory engine....

Re: engine power which is the max approved force for the blazer K5 4x4

No, they do not test anything, but when they think it's not standard, eg carburettors and intake manifold, exhaoust manifolds etc, they ask how powerful the engine is and ask for some kind of certificate, I've printed from comcams quest and they're enough, but I would have to know If there is Blazer 1972 registered with a stronger engine than stock 175 HP
For example, I got ok on the tire 32 / 11.5 "when I found an accessory catalog of original accessories that they could order with 10" tires

It would suffice a photo from someone's registration certificate showing that st is from a Blazer 1972 and that the engine is stronger than 17h HP

GM never put a big block in a 69-72 K5 Blazer (or 67-72 4WD pickup). Six cylinders or small block V-8's were what was used.

Re: engine power which is the max approved force for the blazer K5 4x4

I think that is going to be hard to come up with. The largest engine offered in any Blazer in 1972 was the 350 cubic inch engine. This website says they were good for up to 200 HP: https://www.classicmuscle.com/resour...trucks-history

Now, if they will allow you to go with the vehicle class, the largest engine in the 1972 C/K class was the 402 cubic inch big block which was rated at 300 HP.

Re: engine power which is the max approved force for the blazer K5 4x4

I assume your Blazer is a '72? Can you show them the specs for a '71 or earlier model?
The power rating for a '71 350 is 255 h.p. And the '72 is 175 h.p. But they are the same engine.
1972 and newer vehicles are rated using SAE NET. While the 1971 and older were rated at sae GROSS.
Probably a long shot but maybe get be worth a try...
Found this. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=281597

Re: engine power which is the max approved force for the blazer K5 4x4

Heja sverige,

Jag ar ocksa svensk. I kalifornien och med en 72 GMC Jimmy.

I had to say hi to a fellow Swede. I was born in Stockholm, Sweden but have lived in California for coming up on twenty years now.

Back when I lived in Sweden my class mate worked around the dmv annual safety inspection by having two engines for his muscle car. One bone stock for the inspection day at DMV and a highly tuned, high output engine for the rest of the year...

Re: engine power which is the max approved force for the blazer K5 4x4

my '72 had a 383 stroker at 400hp. You wouldn't know it from outside the headers and intake. I had to replace it with a crate 350 at 300hp. Again, it still looked almost identical to factory. Do you have any obvious modifications? By the engine #, what is the HP rating? Of course, a restrictor plate could easily drop your power, making any mods merely cosmetic. The SPID on my truck simply lists a 350 CID engine.

Re: engine power which is the max approved force for the blazer K5 4x4

My truck was originally sold in California (Vandergriff GMC, Oakland). That tag was issued by the CA Bureau of Automotive Repair, presumably to certify the truck with the 454 for either registration and/or smog reasons. Not sure when it was done (dealer option or what). 350 in it when I bought it, though, but still had 454 badging by the front marker lights, lending me to think is was a dealer thing.

Many thanks.
I hope this is enough for me to proceed with the resignation in Sweden.

No they want me to restore the engine to stock, I'll change camshaft and put on a 2 port carburetor and hope the car will be approved.
