Trucks for Sale - Why mostly 68-72??

I frequently look at the ‘Trucks for Sale’ forum, and am wondering why there are so few 1973+ trucks. Mostly 68-72. Thoughts / Opinions?

Re: Trucks for Sale - Why mostly 68-72??

I'm gonna go out on a limb and maybe guess that the website here is called 67-72 and not 73-87. I'm no expert.

Partially yea it's 67_72.com... and square body's are hot... A lot of people are selling the 67-72 style and starting to invest in 73-87 as they're really coming up in money

Weird. Not on CL constantly but haven't noticed a drop off up here. What about other parts of the country? Anybody else notice anything?

Sorry about the thread jack. In answer to the original Q, if you look, I think you'll see that there are more 67-72 guys on the forum at any given time. So I think the classifieds would reflect that.

Re: Trucks for Sale - Why mostly 68-72??

Not familiar with other states, smog inspections every 2 years in Calif for '76 and newer sent many solid west coast square doors to pick and pulls, the hassle of smog inspections and maintaining an older vehicle was not worth it for your average non enthusiast pickup owner. There was a Calif law vehicles became smog exempt after 30 years old, but the creeps in Sacto ended it in 2006. It's not the climate that kills vehicles in Calif, its the politicians. The nationwide cash for clunkers law contributed to the demise of the pool of square doors as well.

Re: Trucks for Sale - Why mostly 68-72??

not sure what shortage y'all speak of..

I occasionally run my narrow search of 73-74 [pre-smog square in californistan] and find lots of prospects..

got a little itch to replace my 74 C20 so I scope it out sometimes for kicks..

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/...auto_year=1974

straight 73 C20 454/400 for $3650
https://palmsprings.craigslist.org/c...655585173.html

fun looking 73 K10 396 $4500
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/ws...662194779.html

two square running K5's for $16k
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/la...679390391.html

stakes, dumps, 4x4, K5s, etc.. looks like about 10 k5s on there now..

good luck!

Re: Trucks for Sale - Why mostly 68-72??

I get offers on my s.b. 80 truck about 3-4 times a year and my 2 wheel 78 blazer is starting to get people wanting to buy it.Both are not finished but are good drivers with newer motors etc. Had a offer on my blazer for 15,000.00 last month, but what am I going to do ,find something else to build. I know what I have .
