New here with my build
I’m from Texarkana Arkansas. I’ve been currently rebuilding my dads first truck he built when he was 15. It’s a 65 c10 lwb. Dad had put a 80s truck front end so it already has disc breaks and a Ford 9 inch out of a Lincoln in it. He used to raise hell with a worn out 283 and my uncle drove it for awhile too. Years later I was 18 itching to build something So I wasted some time on a s10 until it finally hit me what was sitting in the weeds. We hooked it up to the tractor and pulled it out. It took days of using a air blower blowing out the squirrel crap in the cab corners and raking out the load of pine needles out of the bed. Took CLR and scrubbed and scrubbed. A lot of cleaning later we pulled it into the shop. I wire brushed the floor and put roll on Bedliner until it was nice and thick. Then I cut a template out of the 1/2” shiny insulation stuff haha and layed a lmc rubber floor mat over it. I then cleaned up under the hood and bed lined it with rattle can bedliner. I wanted the finer grit look. I finally decided on a 454 that was in a nitrous corvette on the rack and stripped it down to find it had a few problems of its own. So a set of rebuilt heads, forged pistons, polished crank, beefed up comp valve springs and roller tip rockers, rpm air gap intake and a bullet cam, Long tube Hedman headers and we buttoned her up. We finally got the time to set it in and we had to shave off a bit of the motor mounts to get the headers to fit but we finally got it in good and right. Most of the stuff we used we had laying around my dads shop. We went with a turbo 350 trans and gave it a prompt break cleaner bath. We used the stock crossmember with some modification. We had two sets of 3.73s laying around and I of course picked the one with the spool in it because it’s basically a preppy 20 foot land yacht. This is over a period of two years. New hankook rubber, break lines, fuel lines, Holley mechanical fuel pump which I had to take back today because they gave me a small block one in a bbc ones box and it has been in the motor since it’s been mounted so after a few minutes calling around we finally tracked it down the oreillys. No wonder we haven’t been able to get fuel to the filters. Stupid mistake. New one will be in tomorrow. It has a blazer gas tank in the rear which we are currently making a filler neck for and mounting brackets. The box of parts I took it all apart and put in has finally became a few misc bolts, nuts and random parts. She is by no means a complete restore but I think she’ll work out good
