CPP Power Steering install questions
Hi. Installing a CCP power steering system in to my 1959 and I have two questions. My first question is the clearance of my pitman arm shaft. The instructions call for opening the existing pitman shaft hole to 1 1/2". The CPP pitman shaft is 1.2", after grinding for a looong time, I was able to get the hole to 1.35". After installing the box and checking with a feeler gauge I have plenty of clearance. But want to run it by the guys who have done this before. Looking at the pics below, do I have enough clearance?
My second question. Where is everyone who has done this conversion attaching the clutch return spring? I used to have it attached to the old steering box, are you attaching it to the CPP box? Thanks for your time |

Re: CPP Power Steering install questions
That's what mine looks like. I have not drove it yet, but I have ran the steering threw its cycle and have had no issues.

Re: CPP Power Steering install questions
Thanks for the reply, that makes me feel better about it. As far as the clutch return spring. I have contacted CPP and they it was fine to use one of the bolts on the side of the steering box to attach my return spring bracket. Now I can move forward with this project!
