Engine swap
Pulling a 4.8 out of a 2005 half ton 4x4 Silverado. I want to replace it with a 5.3. I think I have a 4L60e transmission. Will it bolt up and what else will have to be replaced?

Re: Engine swap
I'll take a stab at this....
Yes it should bolt right in. You are going to need to do some work with the ECU to get things to work correctly. What part of the country are you in? Since its a 2005 you also might have some issues with passing emissions.

Re: Engine swap
Welcome...
it will bolt right in...no emmisions in AL...I would reuse all the sensors from the 4.8 and throttle..and a tune wouldnt hurt.....BUT...make sure what engine your buying...there is dod, but, and a host of other differences with the later yrs of the LS engine...this would be better suited in the LS section of engines and drivetrains...maybe a mod will move it for you...

Re: Engine swap
Welcome. This forum has tons of info, likely never reach the end of it lol.
It will bolt up, depending on years, you may have a bolt hole not there such as the 1 o'clock bolt hole on the vortec blocks are missing, but that's nothing to worry about, others will line up/bolt up. Research years of the TCM connector coming out of the engine harness, color connectors, you may have to change pin-outs. If I remember correctly there's black or green connectors. There's more tips hopefully others will chime in on, but keep searching different things on here, it definitely helps!
