Well i finally got around to buttoning up my disc brake upgrade and need some info from the big brains in here. I am running Center line 15" rims and the calipers arent rubbing but there is less than a 16th of clearance. Is this going to be a problem down the road as they get hot. Prolly a stupid question but i have learned not to take anything for granted on this project anymore. Thanks in advance.

Nah, should be fine. Mine have only a little clearance on my front M/T wheels, but never had an issue with them.

Also, first place to look when you get a funny noise; its not unusual to get a twig or little gravel piece in there to make a funky noise for a few minutes lol. Ask me how i know.

Just make sure you don't get the weights for balancing clipped onto the inside. I had the Cpp modular drop spindles and they cleared the wheels but no the weighs.

Running original Centerlines on my '63: no problems !

After a little more checking i found that the calipers themselves were at least a 1/8th away from the rim, but the caliper mounting on the spindles were rubbing just a little. So a few min. cleaning up the casting slag from the edges and all is well once more. Thanks for all of the responses. I dont think i would be as far along as i am with this build if not for the help and guidance i have recieved from this group

I put disc brakes on a 71 Nova years ago and had a little interference between the caliper and wheel. I took a grinder to the caliper and removed a very small amount, and all was fine. I drove it several years that way.

One word of caution, I did find that the caliper and/or caliper bracket flexed a tiny bit when brakes were applied, so even with clearance OK under static conditions, it rubbed a tad when braking. I took the grinder and took off a tiny bit more material, and all was good.

Did the same thing on 65 Nova.
