1947 3600 Gas Tank Relocation

I've done a search, and found a lot of good info, but not EXACTLY what I was looking for! I am thinking about moving the tank to the rear - "between-the-frame-rails". I am also thinking of the filler neck under the license plate. Any ideas or thoughts? I have the stock frame with no spare tire carrier. Also, a "home built" bed, so I can move it up if needed. I am trying to stay away from "in bed" filler necks, and don't really want it out the side.

Re: 1947 3600 Gas Tank Relocation

Here is a early Camaro gas tank in a '49 GMC with the fuel filler under the license plate.

There are fabricated 2x4 cross members in front and behind the tank that will offer 'some' protection in a rear end collision.

Had to put a small notch in the rear cross member to clear . The gas cap location fits the license plate location on a MarK roll pan.

The tank is slung with sheet metal straps between the two added cross members. I made this sketch a few years ago when I was hanging the tank.

Hope this info helps

Thanks, Guys! I had found the thread Mongo posted, but kinda needed some more info! The photos sure help a LOT! I will do some measuring, and see what I come up with.
