62 c10 shortbed stepside - what is this part and what does it do?
 I probably should have circled the exact part, but I am wondering what is that tube sticking out of the frame called and what does it do? There's an identical one on the left side of the truck too. I got the truck with the bed not attached. |

I guess it's better to say it "used to be" a brace in my case

I used a rear fender brace to fabricate a pair of those as I didn't have any when I got my truck "in a box".
