WTB shift knob 1984

We are looking for a nice manual trans shift knob for a 1984. The knob needs to be smooth with a nice center

Re: WTB shift knob 1984

I think you’ll find they are supposed to be textured rather than smooth. You can use a new transfer case knob to make your own.

For further detail, see my intro/ build thread linked below (page 11 and 12).

Understood. My 87 was textured; I’m trying to graciously tell you that yours should be too, as were all the pear shaped knobs.

I supervised that area at Flint Assembly. Depending on where your truck was built there is a 50/50 chance my guy put that knob on originally.

Did you look at the link i recommended? I strongly encourage you to do so.

Dang. Maybe I’m wrong - I sure don’t remember those smooth ones from 82-84.

I’ll ask Roland (D13) what he remembers.

Re: WTB shift knob 1984

I've got a smooth round one I found in some of my father's stuff. Not sure of the application but I guess GM did make them.
