Re: No Power
Make sure you have a good connection where the negative cable bolts to the engine. I had the exact same problem and that is all that it was.

Re: No Power
Not a lot of info provided. Time to get out the voltmeter and first, measure voltage across the battery. Then move to the junction block on the fender and measure to ground. There's a nice wiring diagram on this site you can download.

Re: No Power
Don't assume the cables are good. Had a negative cable that looked good. Cleaned up nice. But apparently the end had turned into noconductium. Any current flow would cause a small pop and no more contact. Replaced cable and problem solved.

Re: No Power
A voltage drop test would reveal that kind of failure. Swhy you do that first.

Re: No Power
Well...im not going to be much help here with the original problem. But i thought maybe I could ask someone who does know to lay things out in a way we can all understand.
Maybe the original poster is like me. I am in no way electricly inclined. Ask me to change brakes, a starter and im good. Pull the motor or trans, im fine with that. Change a fender or bed, sure. But ya ask why something's not getting power, and say it's not the battery, I'm lost. I just don't read schematics well enough to effectively trace anything out. Case in point, my k5 has set for 9 months now because a mod that was supposedly plug and play turned into plug and blow. I assume my problem is a fusible link, but who knows. That's why I personally looked at this thread. I thought maybe something said to this guy could help me too. Now Franken and Hatzie, you both seem like you know what to do. But just saying do a voltage drop test does nothing for me. You would have to say positive lead here, negative lead here, voltage in between should be thus, if not look from here to here. I hate to ask and certainly don't want to hijack or insult the OP by saying he may be like me... but maybe one of you guys could dumb it down that far, if only for my sake?

Re: No Power
Post 18 in the following thread is my bare bones explanation of voltage drop testing the main power feed and ground wires.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=720690 The exact locations of components varies from year to year.
